Summary
New Mexico wildfires have displaced thousands of people, and destroyed beloved homes and landscapes. The Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Fire is now the largest standalone fire in state history which has decimated the communities living in small New Mexican towns. All donations made to the NM Fire Relief Fund support wildfire relief efforts in New Mexico both during emergency response and long term recovery efforts afterwards. Your donation will go toward supporting the efforts of Safe Space, a local nonprofit organization, to help support and rebuild the stability and well-being of our New Mexican communities.
Challenge
New Mexicans continue to battle wildfires on an ongoing basis as conditions have become drier and the fires are growing larger. This past wildfire season, dozens of homes and businesses throughout New Mexico, which has greatly impacted the greater community, especially the surrounding more populated towns. The wildfires our state has experienced have also targeted our rural communities who have historically been underserved and have less access to support and resources.
Solution
All donations to the Safe Space NM Fire Relief Fund will go toward supporting the wildfire relief effort in New Mexico in diverse capacities. We will continue to aid in emergency response by providing necessary shelter and food to evacuees, as well as aid in the rebuilding efforts by providing home essentials in order to support long term recovery for our communities.
